Description

The TAMAN C250 is a single phase, direct drive concrete floor grinder built for the prep work that decides whether a coating lasts. It runs off a standard 10 amp power point, weighs 70 kg and grinds a 250 mm path, so one operator can profile a garage, workshop, patio or benchtop area without a generator or a three phase supply.

Its best feature is the quick change shroud. Swap to the edging shroud and the head cuts to within 5 mm of the wall, which removes the ring of unground concrete that normally shows through around the perimeter of a finished floor.

Why grinding matters before you coat

Mechanical preparation is the single biggest reason an epoxy or polyaspartic floor sticks or peels. Grinding opens the slab to a CSP 1 to 2 profile, takes off laitance, old paint, glue and sealer, and gives the resin something to key into. On a power trowelled slab, acid etching will not get you there.

Features

  • Quick change shroud: the grinding and edging shrouds swap over in seconds.
  • Grinds to 5 mm from the wall: the edging shroud takes the head right up to walls, columns and door frames.
  • Wet or dry: a water connection is fitted for wet grinding, and a 50 mm dust port takes a HEPA extractor for dry work.
  • Redi-Lock tooling: a Redi-Lock converter plate is fitted, so segments change over by hand in under a minute.
  • Adjustable handle: sets from 165 to 60 degrees and folds flat for transport in a ute or van.
  • Quality driveline: Schneider switchgear and a Moreflex coupling between the motor and the head.
  • Height control device: adjusts the grinding head for wet work, dry work and edging.

Pair it with

Run the C250 dry with the TAMAN TDE2-AC HEPA dust extractor to keep silica dust out of the air, and match the grit to your slab with RediLock Diamond Plates. Once the floor is profiled, the Shimicoat kit range takes it from bare concrete to a finished floor.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked most about the TAMAN C250 Concrete Floor Grinder and Edger 250mm.

Do I need a special power supply for the C250?
No. The C250 is a single phase machine that draws 10 amps, so it runs from a standard 240 V power point. You do not need three phase or a generator. Use a heavy duty 15 amp rated extension lead if you have to run a long way from the outlet, and avoid sharing the circuit with the dust extractor if the board is marginal.
What surface profile does it leave for epoxy?
With the right diamond segments the C250 produces a CSP 1 to 2 profile, which is what epoxy and polyaspartic coatings need to key into. Start with a coarse metal bond segment to strip laitance, coatings, glue or sealer, then step up in grit until the slab is open and even. Vacuum thoroughly before you coat.
Can it really grind right up to the wall?
Yes. Swap the standard grinding shroud for the edging shroud and the head grinds to within 5 mm of the wall. That removes the strip of unground concrete that otherwise shows as a visible band around the edge of a finished floor, and it saves you doing the perimeter with a hand grinder.
Do I need a dust extractor with it?
For dry grinding, yes. Concrete dust contains respirable crystalline silica, and dry grinding without extraction puts it straight into the air you are breathing. The C250 has a 50 mm dust port designed for a HEPA extractor such as the TAMAN TDE2-AC. If you are grinding wet instead, connect the water feed and manage the slurry.
What tooling fits the C250?
The machine comes with a Redi-Lock converter plate, so it takes standard Redi-Lock segments and shoes, and it can also run a fixed plate. Match the bond and grit to your slab: soft bond for hard concrete, hard bond for soft concrete, coarse grit for removal and finer grit for finishing.
How is it delivered?
The C250 weighs 70 kg and ships on pallet freight direct from the supplier's warehouse, so it does not go out with our same day dispatch items. Call (08) 9434 3302 or email info@shimi.com.au before you order if you need it by a set date, and we will confirm stock and a delivery window.
