Description

SHIMICOAT Pearlescent Liquid Pigment is a metallic special effect pigment made from mica nano-particles coated with inorganic compounds, designed to blend with 100% solids clear epoxy resin. It gives epoxy a shimmering, light-reflecting finish that mimics natural stone and marble, making it a favourite for decorative epoxy floor coating and countertop projects across Australia.

  • Blends rapidly and disperses evenly through any clear epoxy or polyurethane resin.
  • Excellent chemical resistance: both acid and alkali leave the pigment unaffected at room temperature.
  • Heat resistant up to 140 degrees C, non-conductive and suitable for floors and worktops with underfloor heating.
  • Non-bleed and non-fading: the metallic effect will never tarnish, rust or yellow.
  • Low in heavy metals and FDA compliant, plus vegan and cruelty free.

Typically used as a mid coat over a tinted epoxy base coat (Gun Metal and Pearl White are the most popular bases). As a guide, a 200mL container blended into 15 litres of clear epoxy covers around 15 square metres at a rich 1000 micron build. Beyond flooring, it suits countertop resurfacing, wall coatings, plastic moulding, inks, and arts and crafts. Always test your method before coating the full project.

What is Pearlescent Liquid Pigment used for?
It is a pearlescent liquid pigment used to colour clear epoxy and resin with a metallic, pearly shimmer. It is popular for metallic floors, benchtops, resin art and feature pieces.
What colours can I choose?
Pearlescent Liquid Pigment comes in 20 pearlescent colours, so you can blend custom metallic effects. Select your colour on this page before adding to cart.
How do I use it?
Add it a little at a time to your clear resin and stir thoroughly until you reach the colour and shimmer you want. Liquid pigment disperses easily, so start with a small amount as a little goes a long way.
Can I mix colours for a metallic floor effect?
Yes. Many metallic finishes use two or more pigments swirled through a clear coat to create movement and depth. Test your blend on a sample first so you are happy with the effect before doing the full surface.
Is this a complete kit?
No. The pigment is a colourant only. You will also need clear epoxy or resin to mix it into, and a topcoat for floors, available separately.
