Common questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked most about the Hybrid Stone Flake.

What is Hybrid Stone Flake?
It is decorative vinyl flake used to create natural stone look flake floor finishes. The flakes are broadcast into a wet base coat and sealed under a clear topcoat to give a textured, stone like look on garage, shed, patio and interior floors.
What colours can I choose?
Hybrid Stone Flake comes in 14 blends, so you can match a subtle natural look or a bolder feature floor. Choose your colour on this page before adding to cart.
How much flake do I need?
It depends on how dense you want the coverage. A light, partial broadcast uses less, while a full broadcast where no base coat shows through uses more, generally around half a kilo to one kilo per square metre for a full cover. Order a little extra so you do not run short mid floor.
How are the flakes applied?
Roll on your coloured base coat, then broadcast the flakes evenly into the wet coating until you reach the look you want. Once cured, scrape back any sharp edges and loose flake, then seal with a clear topcoat to lock everything in.
Do I need anything else to do a floor?
Yes. The flakes are the decorative layer only. You will also need a base coat and a clear topcoat, plus prep. For everything matched in one box, see our DIY flake floor Complete Kits.
