Description

The Shimicoat Coving Trowel, also known as a cove or curb tool, forms a smooth and consistent 25mm (1 inch) radius cove where the floor meets the wall. It is the hand tool used to shape epoxy, polyurethane, MMA and cementitious coving mortars into a seamless, hygienic transition that is easy to clean and resists chipping.

The compact 152 x 102mm (6 x 4 inch) stainless steel blade with a 76mm (3 inch) lip gives you control in inside corners, along kerbs and around perimeters. Welded heavy duty construction holds the radius true, and the polished finish wipes clean before the resin goes off.

Using it

Apply the coving mortar along the wall to floor junction, hold the blade against the floor with the lip against the wall, then draw the tool along the junction with steady pressure to form the radius. Clean immediately after use, water for water based materials or xylene or acetone for resin systems, and dry before storage.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked most about the Coving Trowel.

What radius cove does this trowel form?
A 25mm (1 inch) radius. The blade is 152 x 102mm (6 x 4 inch) with a 76mm (3 inch) lip that runs against the wall.
Which materials can I use it with?
Epoxy coving compounds, polyurethane and MMA resin mortars, cementitious repair mortars and polymer modified mortars. It is a shaping tool, so it suits any coving material that is trowel applied.
How do I clean it?
Clean it immediately after use, before the material hardens. Water based materials wash off with clean water. Resin systems need the solvent recommended by the material manufacturer, usually xylene or acetone. Dry the blade thoroughly before storage so it does not corrode.
Is it reusable?
Yes. The blade is welded stainless steel and there is no shelf life. Cleaned after each job and protected from impact, it will last for years of professional use.
Do I need anything else to form a cove?
You will need your coving mortar, a mixing setup and standard PPE. Many installers also use a small margin trowel to load the material into the junction before drawing the cove.
Do you deliver Australia wide?
Yes. We ship tools and materials anywhere in Australia, with tracking on every order.
