Shimicoat is delighted to announce that the company has been awarded the coveted HACCP International certification for its entire range of epoxy, polyurethane, polyaspartic and sealer products.

The HACCP is the globally recognised body that certifies non-food products as being safe to use within the food & beverage industry. It covers equipment, products and services. Those that meet the strict, 10-point standard scrutiny that the board requires are then allowed to bear the hallowed HACCP safety mark on their products.

What Does HACCP Certification Mean for Shimicoat?

First and foremost, it’s tantamount proof of the expertise and due diligence behind the creation of one of the world’s leading ranges of epoxy resin and associated floor products. Shimicoat is the result of one man’s drive and passion within this highly specialised field – Director, Frank Samini. As a highly qualified and well-respected figure in all things epoxy, Frank works tirelessly to continually advance the Shimicoat portfolio, utilising the latest cutting-edge technologies to mould one of the most advanced ranges of floor solution products anywhere in the world.

No effort is spared to ensure that products aren’t only easy to use, of the highest quality and fit for multiple purposes, but that they also adhere to the most stringent standards of health and safety. Being awarded HACCP certification is a just reward and proof of this continuing commitment to excellence.

How Does a Product Become HACCP Certified?

It’s a pretty tough process – one that’s obviously necessary for anything that’s used within the food & beverage industry. Whether it’s during production, storage or at the sharp end of hospitality service, any non-food item that can or has the potential to come into contact with food fit for human consumption must pass 10 key criteria.

But more than that, manufacturers must also show that they:

  • “Are quality aware and responsive to customers’ needs.
  • Want to capitalise on the ‘food-safe’ status of their product.
  • Wish to drive the marketing of their product through certification by a recognised and practical body.
  • Need to differentiate their product from less appropriate competitors.
  • Have to provide assurance as to a products suitability, conformity and compliance.”

There are no half-measures when it comes to being awarded the certification. It’s an all-or-nothing requirement – and one that Shimicoat is excited to now be able to display on all their products.

Shimicoat now gets to join a pretty illustrious lineup on the HACCP register – one that includes global names, such as Kimberly-Clark, Rentokil, 3M and many, many more. Shimi is now also featured on both the HACCP Australia and HACCP International business directory pages of the website.

What are Some Examples of Using Shimicoat Floor Solutions Within the Food & Beverage Industry?

One area that immediately springs to mind is food outlets. But the industry consists of far more sub-sections than this.

  • Restaurants and cafes: Epoxy flooring in such a situation must meet many requirements. It must, of course, adhere to the strictest of health and safety standards, be tough enough for high footfall – and it needs to look great. Shimi’s enormous range of colours and finishes means that their floor coverings meet all of these requirements – and with the addition of HACCP certification, outlets can be confident that they’re doing everything they can to ensure the ultimate in hygiene standards.
  • Commercial kitchens: Floors here need to be the toughest of the tough! Temperature extremes, hot liquid splatters, non-slip… The list is endless – but a Shimicoat epoxy floor is well up to the challenge.
  • Food processing areas: This umbrella term includes a wide variety of applications. It includes food/beverage factories, dairies, bakeries, abattoirs & meat factories, wash-down areas… The list is long – and Shimicoat offers the ultimate flooring solution in each case.
