PU cement – also known as polyurethane cement – is the ultimate flooring solution for extreme conditions. Think high temperatures, excessive wear, chemical attack and more, this new addition to the SHIMICOAT range offers a new level of durability with all the ease of application that our products are renowned for.

What is PU Cement?

SHIMICOAT PU cement is a specialist blend of clear polyurethane resin (100% solid) and reinforcing cementitious quartz enforcement filler materials. This unique formulation creates a layered mortar structure that offers incredible strength and longevity under the toughest of service conditions.

A ‘solventless’ product, polyurethane cement is combined with a slip-resistant topcoat to provide a safe, tough, incredibly durable finish that provides the ultimate thermal tolerance and chemical protection.

The Benefits and Advantages of Polyurethane Cement

SHIMICOAT PU cement brings a whole new level of strength and toughness to the world of flooring. Extreme conditions that are common in Australian industries, such as meat production, mining facilities, chemical processing plants etc, require a grade of flooring that can withstand constant attack – and remain in great condition – even after years of abuse.

The patented blend of our PU cement withstands:

  • Temperatures between -25°C to +120°C (requires a minimum 9mm thickness).
  • Chemical resistance to inorganic and organic acids and virtually all sanitizing chemicals.
  • Is highly resistant to constant hard impact and abrasion.

As well as being virtually the toughest industrial flooring solution on the market, SHIMICOAT PU cement conforms to the rigorous safety standards necessary for various industries, including food production and use in laboratory conditions.

The product is:

  • Odourless and non-tainting.
  • Antimicrobial.
  • Moisture-tolerant.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Smooth and seamless.
  • Non-slip – exceeds Australian safety standards.
  • Conforms to HACCP.

How to Apply Polyurethane Cement

In common with all SHIMICOAT flooring solutions, PU cement comes in a wide variety of colours and can be personalised with demarcation as required.

The flooring can be applied in two stages:

  1. A single-layer system (4-9mm) that is self-levelling and creates a smooth, seamless finish as the foundation and base.
  2. A broadcast system that includes an anti-slip finish and is sealed with a SHIMICOAT clear or tinted polyurethane topcoat.

Both types of applications can be:

  • Applied to new concrete (over 7 days old).
  • Are incredibly moisture tolerant.
  • Cure fast – even at low temperatures – allowing a quick application turnaround and return to service.
  • Are odourless.
  • Come in a pre-packaged kit for ease of application and uniform colour and consistency.
