The SHIMICOAT range is continually expanding, with our expert designer team constantly pushing the chemical boundaries to bring unique flooring possibilities to reality.
The latest development is our Polyaspartic Metallic Floor Finishing System (please supply link to product), because, sometimes, a bit of bling is what’s needed to add that touch of individuality to a flooring project.
This new product is the polyaspartic version of the highly popular SHIMICOAT Epoxy Metallic Coating Kit. Both add a wonderful marble appearance to the surface and can be formatted in either a matte, semi-gloss or high-gloss finish. While epoxy and polyaspartic are both types of resin and have many similarities, they also have distinct differences that make each one more suitable for certain needs. Having been asked many times for the polyaspartic version, we decided that it was high time to create one…
The SHIMICOAT Polyaspartic Metallic Flooring System
This unique flooring option is, like all of our systems, wholly customisable. In addition to the already mentioned finishes, it can be tailored to match any colour or shade across the spectrum. The metallic aspect adds a hugely attractive shimmer, with iridescent accents that catch the eye and elevate the entire environment.
In similarity to all the SHIMICOAT complete kits, metallic polyaspartic comes in an easy to apply layered system. This compromises a primer, base coat, and the pigmented metallic coat. Polyaspartic cures extremely fast and can be walked on and returned to full use in a matter of hours.
Our design team has engineered this specifically for use in the Australian climate. Nature certainly blesses us with more than our fair share of sunshine, so it’s vital that our flooring solutions have the necessary chemical attributes for true longevity – and this one certainly delivers on all the required criteria.
Why Choose Polyaspartic Metallic Flooring Over Epoxy?
To decide which is the best for a project, it’s necessary to compare and contrast the two. Our comprehensive Polyaspartic Coatings vs. Epoxy article delves into this in more detail, but in short, the new polyaspartic metallic option provides:
- Incredible UV resistance: For floors that are exposed to sunlight (either directly or through large expanses of glass), polyaspartic is the way to go. No matter how long or intense the rays, polyaspartic won’t yellow, fade or peel.
- Extremely resistant to damage: Even under the toughest of use. Resistant to the highest of traffic, abrasion and heavy machinery over many, many years.
- Indoor and outdoor use: Ideal for both and can be applied in a wide range of climatic conditions – even under direct sunlight.
- High temperature resistance: Remains stable in temperatures as low as -20 C and up to +60 C.
SHIMICOAT is delighted to be the only provider of this innovative new flooring in Australia (if not, the world!).
